About tendonitis

Tendonitis is characterised by moderate to severe ‘achy’ pains over or around joints with associated joint restrictions. This is usually experienced in your shoulders, elbows or ankles.

Causes of tendonitis

Treating tendonitis involves massaging the surrounding muscles and tendons to decreasing tension and therfore inflammation. Osteopaths will also mobilise the joint to overcome joint restriction and encourage the tendon and muscles to ‘re-lengthen’. Osteopaths will prescribe you further tailored stretches and an easy to manage DIY heat/ cold treatment program to assist with healing and prevention.

Osteopathic treatment

Osteopaths gently mobilise arthritic joints to increase the range of motion of the joint and therefore also decreasing pain. This treatment technique can assist even severe arthritis sufferers. Osteopaths will be able to assess your condition and offer advice on your personal needs. Further pain relief may also be available from your GP or pharmacist.
